Sachin Katti

Legacy & significance

Katti built his career on the unglamorous but essential problem of moving data efficiently, first in academic networking research, then running Intel's networking hardware division, and now at OpenAI, where the physical compute infrastructure behind frontier AI models is his direct responsibility.

• Tenured faculty, Stanford Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Built an influential academic research program in computer networking and wireless systems before moving to industry.
• Co-founding Kumu Networks. Commercialized full-duplex wireless technology developed from his Stanford research, later acquired by Alphabet's Tarana Wireless business.
• Chief Technology Officer, Intel Network and Edge Group. Directed technology strategy for Intel's networking silicon and edge computing hardware business.
• Head of Compute, OpenAI. Oversees the infrastructure strategy behind training and deploying OpenAI's frontier AI models at massive scale.
