Legacy & significance

Dolgov has been inside Google and Waymo's self-driving effort from its earliest days as a Google X project through its emergence as the first company to operate paid, fully driverless rides at commercial scale, rising from founding engineer to Co-CEO across that entire arc.

Major achievements & key works

• Founding engineer, Google self-driving car project (2009). One of the small original team that built the technology underlying Waymo.
• Chief Technology Officer, Waymo. Directed the engineering behind Waymo's driving software and sensor systems as the company scaled from test vehicles to commercial robotaxi service.
• Waymo's fully driverless commercial launch (Phoenix, 2020). Under his technical leadership, Waymo became the first company to offer rider-only, no-safety-driver rides to the public.
• Named Co-CEO of Waymo (2023). Elevated to joint chief executive as Waymo expanded driverless service to additional U.S. cities.
